Dr. Mary Elizabeth Brice leads Bolt Eye Group Canton, where she sees patients full-time. In practice since 2009, she was named the Georgia Optometric Association's Young Optometrist of the Year in 2014 and has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry since 2011.
Dr. Brice grew up in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and began college at the University of Arkansas on a golf scholarship before transferring to the University of Georgia, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in microbiology in 2004. She earned her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2008, where she served as vice president of the student chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.
She then completed a residency at Woolfson Eye Institute in Atlanta, training in anterior and posterior segment disease, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, glaucoma, and pre- and post-operative care for cataract and refractive surgery. She practiced in the Atlanta area for more than fifteen years before taking the lead at Canton.
Her clinical focus is comprehensive eye care with a medical backbone: diagnosis and management of anterior segment disease, glaucoma, cataract and LASIK co-management, and specialty contact lenses including scleral lenses and myopia management for children. She is a member of the American, Georgia and Greater Atlanta Optometric Associations.
In Canton she is known for thorough exams and for taking time with children and nervous first-timers. When she is not in the office she plays golf and tennis, travels, and spends time with family and friends.
