Dr. Susan Reimbold is the founder and CEO of Bolt Eye Group and the founder of Reimbold Eye Group in Alpharetta. She has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1997 and sees patients at Bolt Eye Group Johnson City, where she runs the Ortho-K and myopia control program alongside Barbra Williams, COT, COA.
She earned a degree in genetics from the University of Georgia and her Doctor of Optometry with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she was named clinician of the year for her class and inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa. She then completed an ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, with training in refractive surgery, glaucoma, retinopathy and the eye effects of systemic disease.
Dr. Reimbold is a board-certified optometrist. She has served as an investigator in dry eye and glaucoma clinical studies at Coastal Research Center and has lectured at conferences including the American Academy of Optometry's international meeting in Sydney, Australia. Her clinical interests are the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, luxury and custom eyewear, and the link between vision and learning.
That last one is personal. Dr. Reimbold loves working with kids and is an advocate for children with learning differences and neurodivergence, including ADHD and dyslexia. For six years she taught an after-school science program, STEM Prepared Labs / Mad About Science, and she knows how often a child labeled a struggling reader turns out to need an eye exam, a different approach, or both.
Her practices are a family project. Dr. Reimbold homeschooled both of her children, and both helped her open Reimbold Eye Group in 2014. Her father built the frame boards that still hang in the optical. Her son is now a tax attorney, and her daughter is headed to optometry school. The practice's design earned Dr. Reimbold a feature in Review of Optometry.
Outside the office she hikes, camps, and still remembers every cadence from her years on snare drum with the UGA Redcoat Band and the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps. She lives in Cumming with her husband, and with Bolt, the polydactyl Maine Coon the practice is named for.
