Kids' Eye Exams in East Cobb (Marietta), GA
Bolt Eye Group East Cobb checks kids' vision and eye health, and we take our time with little ones and nervous first-timers.
What we check
- Clear vision
Distance and near vision, even for kids who can't read letters yet.
- Lazy eye and eye turns
These respond best to early treatment.
- Eye teaming and focusing
This affects reading and homework.
- Eye health
We look at the front and back of the eyes. For $39 we add retinal photos and a corneal map, and your doctor explains them.
- Nearsightedness
We track it every year.
When to book

Book sooner if your child: squints or tilts their head, sits close to the TV, rubs their eyes, gets headaches after reading, loses their place when reading, or has an eye that turns. A white reflection in the pupil in photos needs a visit right away.
Slowing myopia
DreamSculpt Ortho-K lenses are worn while your child sleeps. Kids see clearly all day without glasses, and it helps slow myopia. Our East Cobb team was trained for three years by Dr. Jeffrey Jeruss, OD, FIAOMC, a world Ortho-K specialist and Custom Ortho-K educator.

Questions from East Cobb parents
When should my child have a first eye exam?
Children should have a first eye exam at 6 to 12 months, another between ages 3 and 5, one before first grade, and then every year. Book sooner if you notice warning signs.
My child can't read yet. Can you still check their eyes?
Yes. We use pictures, matching games and tests that do not need answers from your child.
Will my child's eyes be dilated?
Often, yes. Children's eyes focus very strongly. Drops relax that focus so we can measure the true prescription and see the back of the eye.
Is a school screening the same as an eye exam?
No. Screenings check how well a child reads letters across the room. They can miss farsightedness, focusing and eye teaming problems, and eye health issues.
Can you slow my child's nearsightedness?
Yes, we can help. DreamSculpt Ortho-K helps slow myopia. Your child wears the lenses at night and sees clearly during the day.
Do you accept Medicaid for kids in East Cobb?
No. Our East Cobb office does not accept Medicaid. We accept many vision and medical plans; check your coverage when you book.
