Bolt Eye Group · Retinal Imaging

See the back of your eye in high definition

Retinal imaging takes a detailed picture of your retina, macula, optic nerve and blood vessels. It shows problems early and gives you a baseline for every future visit.

Retinal imaging at all five offices · $39 for every patient

What it shows

A window into your eye health.

The retina is the only place in the body where we can see blood vessels and nerve tissue directly, without surgery. Retinal images help us find problems early and give you a baseline to compare against every year.

With an in-office telehealth visit

Your images, on the big screen and in your wallet.

Every patient pays $39 for retinal photos and corneal topography. With an in-office telehealth visit, the same $39 also covers two OCT glaucoma scans, one of the optic nerve and one of the macula. Your doctor reviews your images with you on a large screen. You also take them all home free on the I-Scan Platinum Lifetime Baseline, a credit-card-size USB drive. In-office telehealth is available at every office.

Keep it in your wallet and show it to any eye doctor or specialist you see. A personal baseline makes small changes much easier to spot.

Questions

Retinal imaging questions.

Does it hurt?

No. You look at a light for a few seconds while the camera takes the picture. Nothing touches your eye.

Does imaging replace dilation?

Imaging can reduce how often you need dilation, but it does not always replace it. Your doctor may still recommend dilating, for example for diabetes or new symptoms.

What does the $39 imaging fee cover?

Every patient pays $39 for retinal photos and corneal topography. The photos let your doctor confirm that your retina and optic nerve are healthy, and show you what they see. Topography screens everyone for keratoconus, which now has an FDA-approved treatment. If you have a medical eye condition, some testing may be billed to your medical insurance.
